Mission The Center for Information Society Studies (CISS) is designed to aid in identifying and resolving the social and policy issues arising from technological innovation and new communication media. It seeks to establish NC State as a national leader in bridging the gap between the study of science and technology and the understanding and amelioration of social problems. This work adds a valuable dimension to NCSU's tradition of applying high-level research skills to practical problems. CISS engages researchers involved in technological frontiers such as telecommunication networks and software design in joint social and policy research with faculty in such disciplines as communication, design, education, management, political science, rhetoric, and sociology.
