"Remediation: Old Media and New Media"

Dr. Bolter's presentation will provide an historical and cultural perspective on how the new digital media relate to earlier media. He will focus on the implications of these relationships for computer games, e-commerce, and other new uses of electronic media. He will also discuss the implications of these changes for the world of business. Dr. Bolter's presentation will be of interest to those in a wide variety of disciplines, such as design, computer science, communication, media studies, and business management.

Dr. Bolter is the co-author of Remediation: Understanding New Media (MIT Press, 1998), and Writing Space: The Computer, Hypertext and the History of Writing (Lawrence Erlbaum, 1991), among other publications.

Copies of Remediation and Writing Space will be available for sale before and after Dr. Bolter's presentation, courtesy of the NCSU Bookstore.
