Produced and Directed by PhD student Benjamin Torbert with Executive Producer Dr. Erik Thomas, Hyde Talk gives an in-depth, but informal portrait of a fascinating linguistic community. A new book by two NC State linguists challenges a half-century of sociolinguistic theory and takes a fresh look at the history of the controversial and highly visible ethnic English dialect Ebonics, also known as African-American Vernacular English (AAVE).
