Jeffrey
Reaser is a Ph.D. student in the collaborative Duke-NC State
English-linguistics program. His current research interests
center on two areas of sociolinguistics: variation in Bahamian
enclaves and sociophonetic perception experimentation. He
has authored or co-authored articles documenting various phonological
and morphosyntactic variables in Bahamian enclaves. His long-term
goals include a more detailed evaluation of the role of the
linguistic individual and how patterns of individual variation
in Bahamian varieties are related to ideologies of constructed
and assigned ethnicity.
