School Culture
  • Infrastructure not readily suited to this type of teaching
  • Texts, schedules, attitudes oriented around subject teaching

Colleagues

  • Entrenched subject specialists
  • Subject status issues (math better than PE, PE better than art)
  • Not how they were taught

The Educational Elite

  • Accepted, traditional knowledge is the only knowledge worth sharing
  • Bureaucracy uses disciplines as organizational format
  • Test and textbook manufactures are highly resistant to change

Not My Child

  • Parents fear results of new process may not be successful
