In June 2003 Amanda Robertson, a design student from NC State University, traveled with 15 other university students to Ghana, West Africa. These students were traveling to Ghana through the NC State Art and Design Study Abroad Program to learn about the native arts and crafts, and the culture, of Ghana.

While in Ghana, Amanda sent emails of her experiences to friends and family whenever she could find a computer with internet access. She had brought along a digital camera and her laptop computer so she could attach digital images to these emails, allowing others to share in her experiences as much as possible. These original emails, along with many of her images, are included here for you to explore.
