Nnonkonsuo - The Slave River

We left Thursday for Cape Coast, about a three hour drive south of Kumasi. We stopped on the way to see the Slave River - 'Nnonkonsuo' - where men and women that were going to be sold as slaves would be bathed after their long journey from northern Ghana. This was an emotional and personal experience for everyone in our group.

We soon arrived at Cape Coast and had the rest of the day to laze around the beach in this relaxing beach resort. My room was just a short walk from the beach, as you can see in the attached photo.
