Warm Weather Holidays

May Day
(May 1)

May Day is known as The Labor and Spring Holiday (“a feast with tears in your eyes”) and retains a festive energy and element to its celebrations. With colorful and elaborate parades, many Russian families look forward to this National holiday every year. Moscow’s Red Square and St. Petersburg’s Palace Square are two places where huge festivals are held in honor of the holiday.

Many parades take place in Red Square on May Day.
Known as the Spring Holiday, traditional bright, festive costumes are often worn.
