Alexander Nevsky Monument

This monument, sculpted by P.S. Butenko, is made of bronze and copper. It weighs 163 tons and is 30 meters high. The sculpture was unveiled in 1993 in honor of Prince Alexander Yaroslavowich Nevsky who led Russian troops in a defeat over the Germans in 1242. This famous victory was won after a “Battle on the Ice” which took place on the frozen Neve River.
