This day celebrates the men and women who have fought and risked their lives for “Mother Russia”. Parades are held at war memorials such as the Piskaryowskoye Cemetery in St. Petersburg to celebrate Victory in Europe Day at the end of World War II in 1945. Wreaths and flowers are put on graves and soldiers wear their military uniforms and medals in parades.
