We got to the artist's flat after going through a courtyard. The
artist had some really nice paintings and she led us through a
gallery-like showing of her work.
After looking at her paintings of flowers, jazz in the city, and
birds, we all sat down to dinner.
Here's the ironic part, she served hot dogs and rice. It seemed
strange to come so far to eat something we could have had back
home. I'm sure she chose this meal so we would feel more at home.
It was very thoughtful of her to do that for us.
We talked about Russia and America and before we knew it, it was
time to leave. I gave her a box of Russell Stover chocolates and
two flags, one American and one Russian. The flags were in a stand
together to show that we were now friendly countries. Russians
really love chocolate and have some very good chocolate products
of their own.
We walked back to our flat and I said a quick thank you for the
nice day and went to bed. I am sleeping in the son's bedroom and
he is on the couch in the living room. The bed in his room is
a pullout couch. Most of the Russian flats are small and they
have sofa beds to conserve space. I'll sign off here. Join me
again later for my trip to the medical clinic.
