After a short tour of the city's main square, we walked to the Children's Palace
and had lunch. The Children's Palace is where students can go
for extra activities after school. This building once served as
the headquarters for the Young Pioneers, a Communist boys' and
girls' club.
The building was filled with Russian children! We noticed that
even the youngest ones had a great sense of responsibility. They
checked their coats, bought their own lunches, and cleared away
the dishes.
Soup for lunch.
Blinies stuffed with yogurt.
"Take our picture!" "Take our picture!"
Shay says goodbye to her new friends.
After lunch, we had a chance to use computers in the center to
send e-mail messages home.
