Degrees Offered in Religious Studies

Bachelor of Arts Major in Religious Studies
Minor in Religious Studies
Minor in Japan Studies

Except as noted below, a course taken to satisfy one requirement may not be counted towards satisfaction of any other requirement, including General Education Requirements (GERs). The rule of thumb is, "No double counting." A minimum GPA of 2.2 is required to transfer upon request into the Religious Studies major. Students with GPAs less than 2.2 but at or above 2.0 may apply for admission to the major. A copy of any student papers written for any course above REL 317, with instructor's comments, will be kept in a department file to help with evaluation of teaching and the curriculum.

Bachelor of Arts Major in Religious Studies (LRS)
The Major in Religious Studies consists of thirty-three (33) credit hours. The courses must include:

To be admitted to the Honors Program in Religious Studies a student must first have junior standing, have completed at least 9 hours of coursework in the major, and have a 3.25 or higher GPA overall and in Religious Studies courses. Further details are available from the department.
