Instructors and students at North Carolina State University have created materials for 3 case studies: Co-Protein, Ammonia and Citric Acid. Students may access overviews of the project statement and other resources to begin their research. Within the secure portion of our site instructors will find examples of solutions created by NC State students. Background of the ProjectStudents enrolled at North Carolina State University have been fortunate to have an option to study in the bioscience concentration of the chemical engineering major; they have also been able to pursue a biotechnology minor since 2002. In addition to the benefit of a well-designed curriculum, chemical engineering students at NC State are also fortunate to be located in an area of the world that is home to numerous companies and contracting firms associated with biotechnology. Some of these companies make themselves available as industrial sponsors for senior design projects focused on some element of applied bioscience/biotechnology. Acknowledgements and Special ThanksThanks to a grant from the Dreyfus Foundation and NSF, these case studies were developed to meet the needs previously mentioned.
