Undergraduate Application Information

Apply On-line

General Information for Domestic Students

  • The first step in applying should be complete an application on-line or complete a paper application and send it to NCSU
  • A $55 nonrefundable application fee is required.
  • The most important factor that will affect your admission is your overall academic record from high school. When reviewing your high school record, the Admissions Office will consider the level and difficulty of courses taken, overall grade point average, class rank, and SAT or ACT scores. The most competitive students take a rigorous college prep curriculum and maintain at least an overall B+ average or better throughout high school. Extracurricular activities including leadership and community service are considered but not weighed as heavily as your academic record.
  • Because freshman admission to NC State is competitive, you will need to understand the requirements and plan ahead to meet deadlines.
  • For detailed information visit the Undergraduate Admissions homepage.

Information and Admissions Requirements for International Students

  • International students should visit the NCSU Admissions Website to learn detailed information regarding the application process and admissions requirements.

Application Process for Domestic Students

We encourage you to submit your application online. You can even save your work, go back and complete the rest at a later date. NC State receives the completed applications daily. Your application must include:

  • Current high school transcript, including grades 9-11, senior year courses in progress, overall grade point average and class rank. We may request first semester senior year grades before making a decision. The transcript must come directly from the high school or be enclosed in a sealed envelope with your application.
  • Personal Statement (recommended)
  • Official SAT or ACT scores sent directly to NC State (SAT code #5496, ACT code #3164). Most applicants take the SAT or ACT more than once, in which case the best scores are used. Students are strongly encouraged to submit test scores from their senior year. Applications will not be processed without official scores.
