Position #07-48-0803.Lecturer-Demonstrations Director and Outreach Coordinator.
The Department of Chemistry at North Carolina State University is seeking to
fill a Lecturer-Demonstrations Director and Outreach Coordinator position. This is
a 9-month EPA non-tenure track position. Duties are to teach one section of General
Chemistry per academic year, manage the Chemistry Lecture Demonstration Program and
serve as the Outreach Coordinator. As Demonstrations Director the activities include
preparation, development and assistance with lab demonstrations, upkeep of demo
information on the department's website, maintenance of the demo room inventory and
identification of new demo resources or practices and making them accessible to
faculty. The Outreach activities include serving as liaison between schools and
civic groups requesting an outreach visit and developing ties with other programs
or institutions such as the Science House, College of PAMS, local ACS chapter and/or
area colleges. Experience in teaching at the university level is preferred.
Candidates must hold a PhD in Chemistry or other related scientific field.

Position #07-48-0805. Director of Mass Spectrometry Facility at North Carolina State University
The Department of Chemistry seeks a mass spectrometrist to manage and materially participate in the operation of the Chemistry Mass Spectrometry Facility. This is an untenured professional staff position. Responsibilities include the supervision of two technical staff, oversight of instrumentation, coordination of the users’ group and finances, assisting faculty with experimental designs and grant writing, conducting experiments, website content, and writing instrumentation proposals to further enhance the capabilities of the facility. A major responsibility is to meet the needs of University-wide research programs in biotechnology. Active participation with Faculty in collaborative research is expected. Minimum qualifications are a Ph.D. degree or a M.S. degree with 10 years of experience. Preference will be given to individuals experienced in methods development, data interpretation, LC-MS/MS, service facility management, and small and large molecule analysis. Review of

The Department of Chemistry at North Carolina State University invites outstanding
applications for a full time, 12-month (with a possibility of renewal dependent on
satisfactory performance and continuation of funding) position of a Postdoctoral
Research Associate, under the direction of
Dr. Alexander Deiters.
The broad objective of the project is to develop light-activated tools for the
regulation of gene function. To be considered, applicants must have a Ph.D. in a
biological or related discipline. Experience with modern molecular biology techniques
is required and expertise in RNA biology and/or gene regulation is preferred.
The ideal candidate will be highly motivated, open-minded, and enthusiastic about
working in the laboratory with scientists at all levels of training. Compensation is
commensurate with experience.
