The Raman-2 instrument consists of a Spex Triax 320 monochromator fitted with an air cooled CCD detector and a HeNe laser, or Coherent Mira 900 Ti:Sapphire laser system. The Spex Triax 320 Monochromator is configured with a single grating, to provide high throughput of low light signals. Because this system lacks the additional light rejection method of Raman-1, it has a limited number of laser frequencies that can be used with the instrument. Currently only 632, 532, 488 and 458nm light can be used as Raman sources for this system. The Coherent 900 Mira Ti:Sapphire laser system has a normal output range of 1000nm to 700nm, this is sent into a doubling system to produce 500nm to 350nm light. The Mira is pumped by a Coherent Verdi10, which is a Diode Pumped Solid State (DPSS) laser that produces up to 10W of 532nm light continuous wave (CW).
