Software Available in NMR Facility:
Data Processing and Chemical Shift Assignment Software:
The NMR Facility supports two, third party NMR software
packages, ACD-NMR and NUTS. Support from the NMR Facility includes maintaining
current versions, training researchers in the use of the software, and
assisting faculty in using the software for courses, course problem sets
and exams.
ACD-NMR
- calculates the 13C
and 1H NMR spectrum for drawn organic structure(s). For the
calculation of chemical shifts and coupling constants, the program utilizes
an internal database with experimentally determined chemical shifts and
an algorithm based on intramolecular interaction parameters using structural
fragments. This program is used by faculty, researchers, and students to
assist in the analysis of NMR data of pure and mixed samples and as a learning
tool in courses incorporating spectroscopy methods of structural analysis.
NUTS
- routine processing of a large variety of
file types generated by diverse instruments available in the NMR Facility
(six NMR vendors are represented in the NCSU Facility). While access to
the data is good as a result of the Facility’s data server, access to the
two software packages is severely limited in that they are only in the
NMR Facility main location. Additional licenses for the software are required
to increase the access of these two software programs from other locations
on campus. This will greatly increase the availability of the software
to students in the teaching laboratory, and researchers in the Departments
of Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, Textile Engineering,
and Material Sciences.
