DOXITA: THE HOURS OF OUR LIVES (2008) - FREE
Doxita is a traveling festival of documentary films that are under 40 minutes in length. The program, comprised of approximately 90 minutes of film, represents a wide variety of documentary – domestic and foreign, short and longer format, serious and funny. It is designed to profile the great content and artistic vision that non-fiction short films provide, but that people don’t often get a chance to see.
Vángelo Monzón (Argentina/Sweden, Andréas Lennartsson, 8 min.) - A portrait of elder Argentinian Vángelo Monzón who's been making bricks since he was a boy. The camera capture him telling bits about his life while he forms and bakes the bricks as he’s been doing for decades.

El Cerco (Spain, Ricardo Iscar/Nacho Martin, 16 min.) - Every year, thousands of tuna fish migrate to the Mediterranean Sea where men chase them in a ritual of blood and death. As the fishing boats close in on the tuna, the tension escalates until the men capture their prizes and tranquility is restored. It is truly breathtaking to watch and the imagery and sounds will stick in your head long after the last fish is conquered.
Cross your Eyes, Keep them Wide (USA, Ben Wu, 23 min.) - An invitation into the San Francisco "Creativity Explored," a work space for artists with development disablilities. It’s a whimsical and respectful look at the artists as they go through days at the center – visiting a museum, buying food at the snack cart, showing at their gallery and following their artistic vision.
The Guarantee (USA, Jesse Epstein, 10 min.) - Charles Farruggio was just beginning to excel at his ballet career when his ballet teachers asked him to fix his big nose. Told entirely through animated line drawings by Robert Castillo and Charles’s voice over, it’s a surprising story told in a unique way.
