Fall 2004 Survey

Comments to the question: "How has having the technology in the classroom affected the way you have taught the course?"

  • Easier. Don't have to carry in and setup projector and computer each day. Also, it is very easy to switch what is projected on the screen. This is great.

  • I use the Internet now for more examples than I would if I were not in easy reach of it. The ClassTech room makes it simple and quick to move to the Internet and back to traditional means of instruction.

  • Made more interactive with students (CPS)

  • Everyone paid attention

  • When teaching a large class (>90 students) utilizing the internet helps a lot. The classroom technology made it easier to integrate my lectures with the course webpage.

  • Saved me the trouble to carry the projector and set it up.

  • My class is very visual. The ability to switch between media so easily has allowed me to cover more material per class.

  • PowerPoint based lectures allow for much more efficient use of class time, easier distribution of notes/handouts to students, and greater reusability of course materials across semesters.

  • The initial offering probably suffered due to my inexpereince with the application of the technology.

  • It certaintly increase the effectivenes of my instruction through interactive sessions.

  • It provides me with a variety of teaching tools and allows the students to be creative and innovative in their oral presentations.

  • Much more visual. Also much faster.

  • it has improved my teaching. i am now able to more easily show examples and make multimedia presentations.

  • I am able to show more things in more different ways.

  • I now bring in the equipment that was provided for me in Poe 218. I bring in a lap top, a computer projector, and just do without the overhead camera.

  • It hasn't affected the way I teach, but it saves me from having to take my own equipment to the classroom each time.

  • It kept me locked at the front of the room, barricaded behind the console counter.

  • I refer to my virtual art gallery all the time in an effort to contextualize the literary texts that we read. I really can't do that without the technology.

  • Made it more efficient- no setup time for external projectors, etc. Also impressed outside speakers, so it made NCSU look progressive.

  • Makes it easier to integrate different types of materials into the uninterrupted flow of presentation.

  • I have made deliberate plans to try to incorporate the technology into my objectives and into the teaching on a day to day basis.

  • The ability to use the board, overhead (via the doc camera), computer, and the internet access interchangeably was highly beneficial, without having to bring a lot of equipment to class. Being able to switch among these different equipment has made the delivery of lecture easier and more effective.

  • It has increased the efficiency with which I teach, has allowed me to present in a way that increases motivation/engagement on the part of the students, and allowed me to present information I couldn't have without the technology. I now build focus groups and problem solving activities around the various technologies that we have in the room. The technology also allows students work on projects and then present these projects via the web, PowerPoint, and other computer-based software that was not possible in a traditional classroom.

  • Much easier to teach.
