- How do I access my files from a ClassTech room?
Files saved to your Unity account may be accessed through the K:drive or the My Documents folder on the desktop after you have logged in. If you are part of CHASS, you can access your U:Drive through the following link: http://www2.chass.ncsu.edu/udrive.
- Is there a floppy disk available on the computers in ClassTech rooms?
No. Plan to use your Unity file space or bring your files on a CD or USB drive.
- What if the batteries in the microphone die or the bulb in the document camera blows?
Our equipment is checked weekly, however, if you have problems please call the Help Desk at 515-HELP and we’ll send a consultant to resolve the issue.
- What if I can't log in to the computer?
Call the HelpDesk and report the problem. In most cases this can be solved over the phone.
- Are chalk, erasers, overhead and dry erase markers provided in classrooms?
Chalk and erasers are provided by the housekeeping staff. Whiteboard and overhead transparency markers are the responsibility of the instructor. Instructors should contact the person responsible for supplies in their department.
- What applications are on the computers in ClassTech rooms?
These computers have the same Novell Application Launcher (NAL) as the University's Unity computer labs. Some of our most used applications include: MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, Internet Explorer, Mozilla, Macromedia Dreamweaver, Fireworks, SmartFTP, Adobe Photoshop, AutoCad, SolidWorks, MatLab, Maple, Python and SAS. - How do I tell my laptop to display to the projector?
To change the display you must press a key or combination of keys on your laptop. Use the table below to determine which key(s) should be used for your laptop brand.
Compaq: FN+F2
Dell: FN + F8 or FN + F12
Gateway: FN+F3
IBM: FN + F7
Micron: FN +F2 or FN + F12
