ROV

ROVs are remotely operated vehicles. These photos show a small remotely operated vehicle (ROV), the Phantom 300. The Phantom 300 is equipped with a low-light (black and white) video camera and still photographic cameras. An operator uses hand-held controls to maneuver the vehicle through the ocean. The ROV in these photographs were deployed from Rita's Ride off the coast of Wilmington, North Carolina.
