HOWLS is program that allows students to:

Experience one-time service events
Participate in leadership opportunities related to service
Here speakers on the social justice issues related to many of societies problems
Transportation is provided for all off campus events

Spring 2005 Events

Martin Luther King, Jr. Service Challenge
- Saturday, January 22, 2005
- 11:45am to 4:30pm
- Talley Student Center Ballroom
- This event involves education on Martin Luther King, Jr's message on service and on social justice issues. A service project is planned and students will be challenged to find a way to make a difference that day with a project on their own.

Kid’s Night Out at Hunter Elementary School
- Friday, February 25, 2005
- 4 to 10 PM
- Come hang out with the fifth graders at Hunter. Volunteers will assist with games in the gym and cafeteria as well as Valentine craft activities.
PAST Fall 2004 Events ... for the curious!
Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina
- Wednesday, September 22, 2004
- 5:15 - 8:30 PM
- This is the perfect opportunity to see how the Food Bank supports hungry Wake County. Volunteers will sort and organize food donations.
National Make A Difference Day

Service and Volunteerism Leadership Conference
- Saturday, October 30, 2004 @ Duke University
- This leadership conference is for students who plan and organize service events, serve as reflection leaders, or just need a kick start with creative service ideas.

- $30.00 registration fee per student, potential registration scholarships.
- Transportation provided - seats are limited
Service Sunday - Parents and Families Planting Project
- Sunday, November 7, 2004
- 9 am to 12 noon
- CSLEPS in partnership with Parents and Families Services will participate in our annual planting project. This year we will be creating and NC native plant garden near a brand new outdoor pavilion currently being constructed on west campus.
- To register with your family, contact the Office of Parents and Families Services hyperlinked above. If you family isn't coming and you would still like to help, please register with Rebecca Cole.
Operation Christmas Child - Shoe Box Program
- Monday, November 8, 2004
- 6 to 7 PM
- Room 3121 Talley Student Center - 3rd Floor
- Assist us in sending shoeboxes full of school supplies and toys to children in over 70 countries.
- BRING: A shoebox ( or shoebox sized plastic box) and the toys/supply items. The hyperlink above gives suggested items.
- We will provide the wrapping paper, tape and will deliver them for shipping.
- You can also participate by donating in $5 increments ($5 covers the cost to ship one box).
National Hunger and Homelessness Week
- November 14 - 21, 2004

- Check out Shack-A-Thon on the Brickyard and help support NC State's Chapter of Habitat for Humanity.
World AIDS Day
- Wednesday, December 1, 2004
- Annual Candelight Vigil on the Brickyard - 5:30pm.
