REGISTRATION FORM
NC State students who are interested in attending should contact John Vance if they have any questions.
This annual student conference is for students involved in civic engagement and community service efforts on campus who wish to network with students from throughout the region and learn and share about best practices and model programs. Many of the workshops are student-led and provide practical models for strengthening service programs on campuses. This is the perfect conference for a campus student leadership team.
The purpose of the Annual Student Conference is to offer the opportunity for students to come together to share ideas and learn from each other's experiences, and to help provide students with the knowledge, skills, and tools to create or expand their own campus service organization. Administrative staff who work with students to coordinate service programs will also benefit from this networking and information sharing conference.
We are pleased to announce that registration is now open for the 2007 Student Conference, November 10, 2007. The theme is “ The Student Citizen: Rock the Boat!” Last year's conference at NC State was our largest to date with 230 students from 26 campuses in 3 states. We anticipate an even greater number this year.
We have recently learned that David Eisner has tentatively agreed to be our keynote speaker during the luncheon program. Eisner is the Chief Executive Officer of the Corporation for National and Community Service, the federal agency that oversees America's service and volunteering programs, including AmeriCorps, VISTA, NCCC, Senior Corps, Learn and Serve America and other domestic service and volunteering programs.

Fall 2005 - Host: Appalachian State University
"On November 5, 2005, 200-some college students attended North Carolina Compact's 13th Annual Student Conference at Appalachian State University. The mountains adorned with reds, yellows, oranges, and greens from nature's change of seasons served as the ideal backdrop for this year's workshops on revitalizing and reforming service, volunteerism, leadership, and diversity programs. Students shared their experiences and ideas on service and leadership in hopes to improve existing programs and create exciting, new volunteer events. Personally, I built some great connections with students and staff from other universities. I also learned of innovative ways to incorporate service with learning and how to construct and manage service events on a large scale. North Carolina Compact put together a fun, yet educational, conference, and I look forward to next year's conference to be hosted by N.C. State."
