• Hunter Elementary School—“Everything was well organized. The students had an idea of what they would be doing and were clear on their objectives for the project. The leaders were well trained and worked well with the other students. It was also helpful that NCSU had communicated the expectations, logistics, etc. to me ahead of time. Schools never have enough human capital to accomplish what needs to get done. Furthermore, minority students seldom see leaders/volunteers of their ethnic persuasion in schools. This is powerfully symbolic.”
• Inter-Faith Food Shuttle—“Students were prompt, courteous, efficient, and self-motivated. As a result sixty senior citizens received grocery bags that they wouldn’t otherwise gotten!”
• Food Bank of NC—“This group was excellent. We had 2–3 employees call in sick and they were understanding and helpful. They did a great job!”
• The Salvation Army—“I thought the experience went well. The youth were very excited and energetic. They seemed to benefit from not only meeting one another but also learning about the impoverished community and their needs.”
• Urban Ministries of Wake County—“The participants were hard workers, flexible, eager to learn more about our programs and the clients we assist. The students were well mannered and easy to work with.”
• Rex Rehab and Nursing Care Center—“The students worked well together, asked questions when they were unsure of duties, and interacted well with the residents.”
• Fred A. Olds Elementary—“The students were helpful in the media center and with the yard work. All positive comments were made. We appreciate their helpful attitudes and spirit of cooperation. I thought everything went well as planned.”
• Tammy Lynn Center for Developmental Disabilities—“The students were all very cooperative. Julie, the leader, provided sunscreen, snacks, and water which was also good! It was my second day on the job and they made it a great day. I loved having the entire group here and we need to have more groups come to do things on the weekends.”
• Morningside Assisted Living—“The students interacted very well with our residents. They didn't shy away when put on the spot with questions and were very talkative with everyone. It really is a great experience for our residents when people come in to volunteer, but it is really great if I can tell them they will be back! Great job! Keep volunteering throughout the year, not just one day!”
• Fuller Elementary—“The team leaders were very organized. Everyone worked hard and pulled their weight.”
