General Program Information
The Campus Writing and Speaking Program was established in the late 1990's to respond to a growing interest - among faculty and administrators at NC State, business leaders in the region, and students themselves - in ways to enhance undergraduate's experiences with writing and speaking in every classroom across our large and diverse institution. Our program is among a very few across the nation in our class of institution to integrate writing and speaking across the curriculum. Through a variety of current events and activities, we are reaching this goal. Click here to view our program evaluations. For more background, read about the Program's history and mission.
The Campus Writing and Speaking Program is housed for budgetary purposes in the College of Humanities and Social Sciences, but it is centrally funded and supports undergraduate programs in nine colleges of NC State University. The CWSP collaborates with several other campus groups such as the Faculty Center for Teaching and Learning, undergraduate tutorial services, the Departments of English and Communication, and the 10 other colleges on campus. The CWSP is advised by an interdisciplinary Campus Writing and Speaking Board.
The Program is located in Tompkins Hall on Hillsborough St.--the second building up Hillsborough from the famous Bell Tower. You can locate the building on this campus map.
