Audition for the 2008-2009 NCSU Dance Company The NCSU Dance Company, whose performances have made the “best dance” lists of the News and Observer in 2000 and 2001 and of the Independent Weekly in 2003 and 2004, performs modern dance works choreographed by the company’s artistic director, Robin Harris, the Dance Program Assistant Director, Autumn Mist Belk, and invited guest artists. In addition to their annual spring concert, the company performs at the American College Dance Festival and many other venues throughout the year. The NCSU Dance Company has been recognized for excellence on both regional and national levels by the American College Dance Festival Association. The company has been selected to perform in ACDF national galas in 1992, 1994, 1996, 1998, 2002, 2004, and 2008, including performances at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C., and at Miller Theatre in New York City. At the audition you will be taught and will perform a phrase from our rep and will be given a short improvisation problem. You do not need to prepare anything in advance. It is not necessary to register to audition, but we would love to know if you are interested ahead of time. Audition for DanceVisions DanceVisions, a group of energetic students whose focus is the sharing and exploration of dance styles ranging from modern and jazz to African and hip hop, presents works from many cultural and technical perspectives. The company presents works choreographed by professional guest artists and its student members during an annual spring concert and throughout the year at various community outreach events. DanceVisions rehearses on Mondays (6-8pm); Wednesdays (5:30-8pm), and the 1st and 3rd Saturdays of each month (11am-3pm).
