Dance Program
Choreography

NC State students develop the skills necessary to create mature, content driven choreography through the study of dance composition, participation in the annual Movement Studies Project, and the completion of independent study projects. Each year members of the NCSU Dance Company spend a portion of their rehearsal time crafting a collaborative choreographic work known as the Movement Studies Project. Guided by Director Robin Harris, the students generate movement vocabulary and build a finished piece for performance. Proven choreographers may elect to complete an independent study project to create a solo or group work under the mentorship of the dance faculty. These students also participate in workshops with other choreographers to gain valuable feedback during the creation of their pieces. The Dance Program Fall Concert is devoted to presenting the Movement Studies Project and the choreography of current students and invited alumni.
