previous Purpose and responsibilities statements

Purpose:
The Diversity Advisory Committee supports and assists the university community in the
design and implementation of strategies that advance diversity at NC State. Such
diversity strategies will (1) enhance open access and opportunity for all and attract a
diverse university community; (2) enrich the educational experience and promote personal growth; (3) foster mutual respect and an appreciation of differences and promote cross-cultural understanding; and (4) prepare leaders for a competitive global community.


Responsibilities:
The committee’s duties include, but are not necessarily limited to, the following:
• Draft a diversity plan for consideration by the Office of Diversity and Inclusion.
• Facilitate the creation of implementation project teams.
• Coordinate and assist with efforts of the implementation project teams.
• Assist in highlighting, recognizing, and publicizing diversity initiatives to
promote campus-wide cooperation and sharing of information and practices.
• Explore new and innovative programs that promote diversity and make
recommendations to administrative leadership on implementation strategies.

glbt subcommittee

GLBT Subcommittee of UDAC - The GLBT Subcommittee reviews issues of concern to Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender students, faculty and staff and makes recommendations for addressing these issues to the University Diversity Advisory Committee and the Vice Provost for Diversity and Inclusion. The Subcommittee includes students, faculty and administrators. Their work culminated in the establishment of the NC State GLBT Center in 2008.
