Campus Diversity Committees

Committees at NC State University promote campus diversity by providing a forum for students, faculty, and staff to anticipate and respond to the challenges of campus and community life.   Whether it is solving problems, offering solutions, developing recommendations or formulating policies and procedures, diversity committees throughout campus are often the first place to take your issues or concerns concerning diversity.  On this page we list many of the campus diversity committees, what they do, and who to contact to get involved with the committee.

University Committees

The University Diversity Advisory Committee (UDAC)

Purpose:
The Diversity Advisory Committee supports and assists the university community in the
design and implementation of strategies that advance diversity at NC State. Such

personal growth; (3) foster mutual respect and an appreciation of differences and promote
cross-cultural understanding; and (4) prepare leaders for a competitive global community.

Responsibilities:
The committee’s duties include, but are not necessarily limited to, the following:
• Draft a diversity plan for consideration by the Office of Diversity and Inclusion.
• Facilitate the creation of implementation project teams.
• Coordinate and assist with efforts of the implementation project teams.
• Assist in highlighting, recognizing, and publicizing diversity initiatives to
promote campus-wide cooperation and sharing of information and practices.
• Explore new and innovative programs that promote diversity and make
recommendations to administrative leadership on implementation strategies.

to collectively serve and support the African American student population at NCSU. Through collaborative university-wide efforts, the coordinating Committee will seek to ensure the academic success and graduation of every African American student who enters NCSU. Relying on the many talents and experiences of this body, students will be a part of an environment that is conducive to their success, both intellectually and socially.

Members consist of a representative from each of the university's colleges. The Coordinating Committee also has representation from other campus units that are significant in the lives of African American students. The African American Coordinating Committee meets on a monthly basis. The work of the African American Coordinating Committee is facilitated by the Vice Provost for Diversity and Inclusion.
