These link to graphs of the percentage of degrees awarded to women and minority students and the percentage of faculty who are female or from underrepresented groups for each college at NCSU. Note: The graphs in the MSWord files are larger and easier to read, but some browsers do not display all 9 graphs in each set properly. If you have difficulty viewing the Word files, the .php file version is for you.
These figures give some idea where there may be blockages in the academic pipeline. They vary widely among the colleges and the patterns are quite different for women than for other underrepresented groups.
Disclaimer: The title "academic pipeline" is a bit of a misnomer, since the real pool for academic positions is national or international. NCSU assistant professors are not generally drawn from NCSU graduates. However the demographic composition of NCSU doctoral degrees granted serves as a surrogate for the national pool of doctoral degrees granted.
