GIVING FOR The Women's Center

Contact Dr. Jose A. Picart, Vice Provost for Diversity and African American Affairs at (919) 515-3607 or e-mail at Jose_Picart@ncsu.edu

Known for its warm and welcoming atmosphere, the Women's Center is open to women and men. The Women's Center also provides time and meeting space in support of network groups seeking a safe, supportive atmosphere. Informal advising and consulting on advocacy issues for women, referrals to campus and community resources are among services the Women's Center offers. In addition, the Women's Center offers support and assistance in dealing with problems such as sexual harassment, rape and sexual assault, and dating/relationship issues.

The Women’s Center also operates the Molly Hayes Glander Advocate Program. This program consists of a 24-hour/7 days a week rape and sexual assault response phone line. Volunteers go through extensive training provided by the Women's Center in conjunction with the NC State Counseling Center on rape and sexual assault response, campus and community resources, and crisis intervention to prepare for their role as advocates.

In all of its activities, the Women's Center strives to promote the awareness of racial, cultural and ethnic perspectives both locally and globally. Programs reflect a wide range of viewpoints about women's concerns and gender equality.

Gift funds help pay for educational programs, staffing of sexual assault personnel, materials, and guest speakers. Total: $100,000.
