New Hires from October 2006 - September 2007

Race and Ethnicity

EPA Professional staff comprised the largest group of staff hired in the 2006-07 academic year, followed by clerical staff, and then technical staff.

Of the EPA professionals hired 65% were white, 21% were international, 6% African American, 5% Asian, 3% Hispanic, and one was Native American.

A high proportion, 78%, of clerical staff hired were white; 15% were African American, 5% Asian, and 3% Hispanic.

In contrast, 53% of service/maintenance staff hired were white, 33% were African American, and 12% were Hispanic.

Gender

The majority of female staff hired at NC State in the 2006-07 academic year were in clerical position, followed closely by EPA professional positions and then SPA Technical positions. Women made up 84% of newly hired clerical staff, 39% of EPA professionals, and 65% of SPA technical staff. No women were hired in skilled craft positions.

AGE

Two thirds of the staff hired in the 2006-07 academic year were younger than 40. The rest were mostly split between staff in their 40's and 50's.
