Staff Hired From October 2007 to SEptember 2008 by race

The numbers of black and Hispanic employees hired in 2007-08 increased over 2006-07 in almost every category, with notable gains in the SPA technical category.

EPA Professional staff constitutes the largest category of newly hired employees. Sixty nine percent of EPA professional staff hired were white, 12% Asian, 9% international, 7% black, and 3% Hispanic.

SPA Technical staff made up the second largest category. In this group 80% of new hires were white, 10% black, 7% Hispanic, and 3% Asian.

Gender

The majority of female staff hired at NC State in the 2007-08 academic year were in EPA professional positions, followed by clerical and then SPA Technical positions. Women made up 50% or more of newly hired staff in all categories except skilled crafts. Two women were hired in skilled craft positions, which is an increase over the previous year.

Seventy percent of the staff hired in the 2007-08 academic year were younger than 40 and 19% were in their forties.
