| The Science House is located on the Centennial Campus of North Carolina State University. The mission of the Science House is to work with K-12 teachers to emphasize the use of hands-on learning activities in science and mathematics. Through school demonstration programs, student science camps, teacher workshops and innovative laboratory training and support projects, The Science House annually reachers over 600 teachers and 20,000 students in 40 North Carolina counties. The activities of The Science House bring the science, mathematics and technology expertise of NC State University to enhance teacher effectiveness and to help students visualize careers in these disciplines. |

| In order to evaluate instructional materials the Science House was developing for EarthKam teacher workshops, the materials and activities were tested with middle grade aged students. Selected students who were home schooled in southern Wake County were invited to participate in periodic meetings at the Science House. The lessons were led by Dr. John C. Park, Associate Professor of Science Education at North Carolina State University. These home schooled students will participate in future Student Mission Operation Centers at the Science House. |
