LDRPS (Living Disaster Recovery Planning System)
Campus wide Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery Planning are documented by a system called LDRPS (Living Disaster Recovery Planning System). LDRPS was designed with the vision of storing and maintaining Business Continuity Plans in one central repository, allowing easy access from any location.
TRAINING
The Department of Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery will administer LDRPS Training. All users of LDRPS must be trained prior to receiving WRITE access to LDRPS. Any user whom requests access prior to receiving training will be given READ ONLY access with approval by their Department Head and Director of Business Continuity with the exception of Senior Management who can receive READ ONLY by their written request.
Confirmation of user training will be sent electronically and updated in LDRPS by the Administrator(s) of LDRPS.
Training can be scheduled by emailing Joe Darkoh at Joe_Darkoh@ncsu.edu.
REQUEST ACCESS
To gain access to the system, you must submit a request to acs_help@ncsu.edu. Your request will be forwarded to the Department of Business Continuity for processing.
User accounts will be setup using the unity id of an employee. Requests will be made through the ETSS Solutions Center. Once a remedy ticket has been assigned, the LDRPS Administrator upon granting security access will use Remedy to verify unity ids.
The initial password will be the same as the unity and in the security section, the Administrator will be a check next to force change so that the user can change the password to something only they can remember.
All user accounts will be set up with the Standard Package assigned, the Plan Access Package and Employee Record Access Filter for the Department they work in.
The LDRPS Administrator will always test the user login to ensure that the login is successful and that the appropriate screens and fields are showing.
THIS SYSTEM IS RESTRICTED TO ONLY NC STATE UNIVERSITY EMPLOYEES !

TECHNICAL SUPPORT
Any staff person of the Department of Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery or the ETSS Solutions Center has authority to contact Strohl Technical Support. All Strohl tickets will be documented at a network location identified by the Department of Business Continuity.
Departmental trouble tickets should be reported through the ETSS Help Desk and a remedy ticket will be assigned.
CONTRACT/SLA
Only the Director of Business Continuity may discuss contractual issues with Strohl Systems. The Department of Business Continuity has a Service Level Agreement (SLA) with ETSS in which the services they provide are documented. ETSS and the Department of Business Continuity must adhere to the SLA regarding the support, service, and maintenance of LDRPS.
WORKING WITH DOCUMENTS
Documents imported into LDRPS will follow the below guidelines:
- The naming convention will always be preceded by the abbreviation of the department name and then by the name of the document (e.g. EH&S Emergency List.doc)
- All documents will be embedded in the software. Never choose the link option.
- If a user plans to check a document in or out, the document must have FULL edit rights within the Document Security Section of the package for which it is attached to.
SCREENS AND FIELDS
The Director of Business Continuity must approve updates to any screen in LDRPS. Updates include additions or deletion of fields, renaming of fields, resizing fields, format changes, text box edits, and help text rephrasing.
Before a field can be added, updated, or deleted as requested by a user, the Director of Business Continuity will assess and often consult with the NC State Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery Oversight Committee to see if this change will affect the entire campus. Fields that only benefits a few departments will not be considered as an update to the system.
REMOTE ACCESS
When accessing LDRPS remotely, do not download any data locally to the machine you are using if it is not NC State property. Additionally, all reports that are printed must be retrieved from all print sources. Verify that any pdfs or other document formats were not cached or store locally before you shutdown all non NC State machines.
CUSTOMIZED REPORTS
LDRPS reports that come pre-loaded with the software at time of purchase will never be deleted. When customizing a standard LDRPS report, rename the customized report with NC State in the naming convention.
Customized reports requested from users will follow the template of all NC State customized reports: the reports will contain the NC State Brick Logo.
SECURITY
The Security module of LDRPS will only be accessible by the Department of Business Continuity LDRPS Administrator(s).
SYSTEM MAINTENANCE
System Maintenance is defined as performing system patches, screen or field changes, or other modifications to the software or database that will require that users log out or the system is taken from production to another mode (QA/Testing).
All system maintenance must be coordinated with ETSS and notification to all users must be given in a timely matter (at least 1 hour). The Administrator of LDRPS will take all efforts to bring down the system for maintenance during off hours (after 5:00 p.m. or on weekends). |
