The management of stormwater runoff can be achieved through proper design, installation, inspection and maintenance of various types of structural best management practices.  Routine inspections and maintenance ensures that the stormwater control device continues to functions as per designed.

The University is responsible for developing an Inspection and Maintenance Manual that details written procedures for the proper operation of the various types of structural controls, frequency of inspections, “how to” instructions for maintenance and an inspection and maintenance tracking mechanism.
