Overview:

All employer's must have a written Hazard Communication Program in place. The written program for NC State is contained in the Safey and Health Manual in your department.

Content:

The written Hazard Communication Program describes, in writing, the site policies and procedures for managing and communicating chemical hazard information. The written Hazard Communication program contains specific information regarding the presence of chemicals in work areas. The program also describes the types and content of training that is provided to employees concerning established procedures for protection from chemical hazards.

Employees have the "Right to Know" about the workplace written Hazard Communication Program. Employees are permitted to review the workplace written program without restriction. You may access the NC State written Hazard Communication program at any time. It can be found as a section of the NC State Safety and Health Manual in your department, or by asking your supervisor. If you prefer to read the program electronically it is available from the Environmental, Health and Safety website. You have access to the written program at all times, this is guaranteed under the Hazard Communication Standard. The NC State written Hazard Communication program is University policy and insures your "Right to Know" about hazardous chemicals in your work area and any hazards associated with them.
