A printed copy of the American Chemical Society (ACS) booklet, Safety in Academic Chemistry Laboratories, should also be available in the laboratory as a reference guide.
The ACS guidelines can be adopted to practices in all laboratories and should serve as a basis for the development of more detailed instructions when applicable. Safety in Academic Chemistry Laboratories provides a starting point for understanding good laboratory practices. This booklet is required reading and its contents should be familiar to all laboratory personnel.
