Did you know that Encore is primarily financed through membership support? Your course and membership fees help pay for classroom rental, course handouts, classroom equipment, catalog costs, postage, staff salaries, accounting support, and other NC State administrative services. Encore has raised fees only twice since its start in 1991, despite substantial increases in the cost of doing business. We strive to keep our program affordable for the greatest number of adults aged 50+. Funds for program enhancement, financial aid, and instructor support are limited.
How You Can Help
The Korte/Kirsch Encore Endowment was established in 1997 to bolster Encore’s financial stability and provide a cushion against rising costs. Annual income from the endowment has been used to buy thank-you gifts for our volunteer instructors and reimburse them for teaching materials. As the endowment grows, it will allow us to enhance programming and accessibility, maintain affordability, and provide better support to our volunteer instructors. If you would like to make a tax-deductible contribution to the Korte/Kirsch Encore endowment, please send your contribution to the Encore Center, Box 7401, NCSU, Raleigh NC 27695. Checks should be made payable to NC State Foundation – Encore Endowment.
Levels of giving:
Benefactor: $5000 and above
Patrons: $2500-$4999
Partners: $1000-$2499
Sponsors: $500-$999
Donors: $100-$499
Friends: up to $99
The Encore course bank helps us provide financial aid to members with limited discretionary income. Members who receive financial aid can take up to two courses per semester, and the “course bank” offsets these costs. Members typically contribute to the bank in the case of cancellations, when they contribute to the course bank rather than receive refunds.
For more information about Encore’s funding, the endowment, or the course bank, please contact Encore’s director.
