Project: Squash Court Lighting Revisions in Carmichael Gym Description: Replaced twelve-250 Watt metal halide lights with four 200 Watt fluorescent. Installed occupancy sensors. History: The lights in the squash courts were left on whenever Carmichael Gym was open 6am-11pm (M-F), 9am-9pm Sat, 1pm-11pm (Sun). Because of long warm-up time, the metal halide lights could not be switched on and off at occupancy. The lighting level in many courts was 15-20 ft-candles. Work Done: Installed Four 200 Watt fluorescent fixtures with reflectors. Installed one wall occupancy sensor to switch off all lights when unoccupied. Estimated Cost: $3,000-4,000 per court Results:
Comments: Did one squash court as trial in 2004-05 with six lights. After evaluating, completed 11 more rooms with four lights in 2005-06. |

Project: Replacement of T12 ballasts with T8 Ballasts in Mann Hall on Main Campus. Description: T12 Magnetic Ballasts with 34Watt Lamp with were replaced with Advance T 8 Electronic Ballast with 25 Watt Lamp. This is being implemented 4th floor of Mann Hall on Main Campus. History: This area was having increased maintenance issues either with lamp or ballast replacements and was identified by the Housekeeping staff as a concern for maintenance and safety Work Done: Housekeeping replaced total of 239 ballasts in 4ft 2 lamp fixtures in classrooms and offices. The 25 Watt bulbs were used only in the 4ft fixtures. Estimated Cost: $11,870 for work complete 2005-06 Results:
