NCSU Energy Management - Solar Array Dedication & Energy Fair January 2008
During January 2008, NCSU dedicated the largest solar array to date in the State of North Carolina with the partnership of Carolina Solar Energy LLC , NC GreenPower, Southern Energy Management, NC Solar Center, SunEdison, State Energy Office, King Brothers Electric, Bishop Construction, BB&T Equipment Finanacing Corp, and Progress Energy. Later that afternoon NCSU hld an Energy Fair in the brickyard with the help of multiple vendors to demonstrate alternative fuel energy technologies and to introduce students to various groups on campus that deal with energy and the environment. Partners who attended the event include:
- WESA - Encouraged students to sign up and sign the "Contract With The Environment"
- NCSU Energy Management - Demonstrated LED lighting, and first campus Residence Hall Energy Competition
- NCSU WRR (Waste Reduction & Recycling) - Educated campus on recycling and the energy impact involved
- State Energy Office - Demonstrated Ethanol Car
- Progress Energy - Demonstrated Hybrid Car
- Piedmont Biofuels - Demonstrated Multiple Biodiesel Fuels & VW running on biodiesel
- NCSU Solar Center - Demonstrated Electric Car & Solar Center Educational Trailer
- NCSU Transportation - Demonstrated Clean Diesel Wolfline Bus
- Wake County Schools - Demonstrated Hybrid School Bus
- NC GreenPower - Handed out NC GreenPower information and encouraged new sign ups
- Advanced Energy - Tabled and handed out information on Advanced Energy's programs and projects
- CEST (Campus Environmental Sustainability Team) - Encouraged campus to sign up to participate
