Blackberry & Raspberry Budget Program 2009
N.C. State University has developed and compiled sample operating budgets to guide N.C. blackberry and raspberry growers in tracking and managing their business costs. Growers can plug their own numbers into these interactive budgets to get the estimated costs associated with production, harvest and marketing for commercial blackberry and raspberry operations.
Faculty Spotlight
Dr. Gina Fernandez
Dr. Gina Fernandez has led the raspberry and blackberry breeding program at N.C. State University since 2004. She is developing new varieties of both berries — such as the ‘Nantahala’ raspberry — and working to strengthen existing varieties. Paired with new production systems, the new varieties could make the berries available year-round.
Blackberry & Raspberry Seasonal Checklist (January 2010)
This checklist was developed for blackberry growers in North Carolina. Many of the items apply to raspberry production as well. Growers may have to adjust their work activities either earlier or later depending on your location.
