Dr. Pattison’s position as a full-time strawberry breeder helps put North Carolina on track to increase the economic value of the crop in the state. With Pattison’s appointment to the Plants for Human Health Institute at N.C. State University, North Carolina became only the third state to create a research position dedicated to developing a better strawberry, which is expected to contribute in boosting the current $20.8 million per year crop.
