OverviewThe Equal Opportunity Institute is an award-winning NC State program designed to provide university students and employees a means for developing a comprehensive understanding of equal opportunity issues. Institute participants broaden their knowledge base and also learn how this information can be applied in their day-to-day activities and interactions. Through their individual and collective efforts, Equal Opportunity Institute participants help NC State and our community build a better place to work, learn, and live. This unique certificate program is designed for both employees and students of NC State. This program is also available to individuals from the general public. Participants learn about equal opportunity, diversity, affirmative action, discrimination and harassment, and university policies and procedures through their completion of an individually designed education plan. This program is sponsored by the North Carolina State University Office for Institutional Equity & Diversity in conjunction with Human Resources and the Center for Student Leadership, Ethics & Public Service. The program coordinator is Beverly Jones Williams (919-513-3836). All individuals who complete the Institute will be recognized with certificates. Students who complete the Institute will have their certification posted on their student leadership transcripts and receive two continuing education units (CEUs). Graduation ceremonies for the Equal Opportunity Institute are held each year in May.
EOI is just one of many efforts on campus to educate students and employees about issues of discrimination, harassment, prejudice, and diversity. See the Office for Institutional Equity & Diversity website for additional opportunities. |
