Comments from Past Participants
- "The
Institute is a valuable resource on campus with regard to diversity
and equal opportunity issues and awareness. Anyone who completes the
program will certainly walk away with a greater awareness and understanding
of the issues. Promoting awareness and making people take time to think
about these issues goes a long way in resolving problems."
- "I loved
the interaction of the students with the presenters. It was the most
interesting piece of the learning process. I also loved the history
lesson of how the laws came into being and what it has meant over the past 40 years."
- "What
I like most about the Institute is the opportunity to learn something
that was informative and very useful, as well as the opportunity to
meet so many diverse but well respected people who wanted to expand
on their knowledge of what is taking place in the world today."
- "I gained
a lot of knowledge about equal opportunity issues that would not have
been possible without EOI. With a demanding academic schedule among
other time consuming activities, I don't have a lot of time to research
issues such as equal opportunity as often as I would like. The EOI
program staff and workshop leaders helped me to gain knowledge about
these pressing issues while being able to engage in activities and
discussions. I have already recommended the program to incoming first
year students and other faculty and staff who have not taken any courses.
I plan to tell as many students about this program as I can, because
I deem it necessary to be aware of equal opportunity issues."
- "What
I liked most about EOI is the great variety of sessions and the flexibility
to choose them around my interests and schedule."
- "What
I liked most about EOI is the opportunity to meet University EO staff;
the opportunity to interact directly -- on the same level -- with students
and professionals."
- "Thanks
for helping me understand the protected classes and issues of diversity.
It was well worth my time."
