Some students with reduced vision can see visual information when written on a white board rather than a black or green board. The board must be clean. The material on the board must be large and clear. Markers should be dark, bold color, dry erase, and bullet tip. Responsibilities are as follows:
Instructor
- The DSO will request that your course be assigned to a room with a white board.
- Request, in advance, that your academic department office purchase a supply of markers.
- Make sure the board is always clean to allow for the greatest visibility and contrast.
- Write legibly. Make sure the material on the board is large and clear.
- Report any board problems to the Classroom Hotline at 515-1555 for University classrooms, the departmental office for other rooms, and to Cheryl Branker, Associate Vice Provost and ADA Coordinator.
Student
- Obtain a supply of bullet-tipped markers from the DSO to use as a back up only.
DSO
- Inform Classroom Hotline for University classrooms, the departmental office for other rooms, and Cheryl Branker, Associate Vice Provost and ADA Coordinator, of need for white boards.
