This seminar
provides participants with an opportunity to openly explore their
feelings and beliefs about the "black-white" issue and come to a better
understanding of a complex issue through honest communication.

| The EEOC (Equal Employment
Opportunity Commission)
Participants
learn more about the laws that the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity
Commission (EEOC) enforces and how the organization operates and
handles charges. Participants also hear case studies and gain insights
into how to avoid employment discrimination. A representative from the
EEOC presents this workshop.

Legacies + Layers = Lenses
(Campus Diversity Conflicts: Methods for Managing the Unmanageable)
This
interactive session offers ideas and skills to assist university
faculty, staff, and students in addressing the management of negative
conflict in proactive, constructive ways. Various methods, including
appropriate diversity training, coaching, group facilitation, and
mediation are discussed and showcased.

| National Coalition Building institute (NCBI)
"Building
Bridges: A Prejudice Reduction Workshop" is a one- or two-day NCBI
program that helps participants celebrate their similarities and
differences; recognize misinformation they have learned; heal from
internalized oppression; explore discrimination; claim pride in group
identity; and learn about hands-on tools for dealing effectively with
bigoted comments and behavior. New for 2003, the one-day follow-up
workshop, "Building Bridges Part III: Controversial Issues Process"
provides further tools and knowledge.

This program
is designed to increase awareness of gay, lesbian, and bisexual issues,
needs, and concerns through education, exposure, and training. By
serving as allies for individuals who are dealing with gay, lesbian,

A Study Circle
is a small, diverse group of 8 to 10 individuals who meet once a week
for five weeks to share individual stories, learn from others, and take
action steps to improve race relations.

| Understanding Diversity:
Valuing Differences
This workshop
defines diversity in the broadest of terms, including race, gender,
ethnicity, age, national origin, religion, disability, sexual
orientation, values, education, physical appearance, lifestyle,
beliefs, geographic origin, longevity within the organization, and
economic status. It explains diversity and a diverse work
environment as a key University business strategy.
