Outreach and Engagement

To honor its land-grant institution tradition and commitment, in 2012 NC State University established an interim Office of Outreach and Engagement to enhance, promote, and expand the University's efforts to promote economic, social, educational, and environmental well-being in North Carolina, the U.S., and the world. Working closely with the Vice Chancellor of Research, Innovation, and Economic Development, the interim Vice Provost of O&E is in the process of cultivating a shared leadership approach with many University units that used to be coordinated and overseen by the now-discontinued Office of Extension, Engagement, and Economic Development.

NC State Named to Presidential Honor Roll

Twenty-eight North Carolina colleges and universities were named to the 2013 President's Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll. Of the 28, five -- including NC State University -- earned recognition of Honor Roll "with Distinction."
The President's Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll program began in 2006 to highlight the colleges and universities that take active roles in solving community problems and that set more students on a path toward lifelong civic engagement. Honor Roll status indicates that an institution has achieved meaningful, measureable outcomes and established effective community-campus partnerships.
North Carolina's Honor Roll members are part of a total of 690 Honor Roll institutions nationwide, of which 113 were recognized "with Distinction."

Message from Interim Vice Provost for Outreach and Engagement:

"Thank you for visiting this Outreach and Engagement site, and please pardon our "dust" as we renovate it to provide you with a better user experience. We are committed to developing and operating mutually-beneficial partnerships that will allow us to extend the teaching and research that benefits our students beyond the University, to benefit as many people in as many places as we can. I hope you will join us in forging strong alliances and working together for our common good."

Dr. Terri Helmlinger Ratcliff
