The 9th Annual Shelton Leadership Forum is scheduled for = Friday,=20 November 5, 2010 at the McKimmon Conference Center at NC State=20 University. The General Hugh Shelton Leadership proudly announces General=20 Dan McNeill (R) as our keynote speaker for the 2010 Shelton Forum. = Other=20 featured speakers include David Gergen, Bridget A. van Kralingen, Dr. = Victoria=20 Haynes and Charles Hayes.

Cost to attend the Shelton Forum is $189 for the day. Early = registration will=20 begin July, 2010 at a reduced rate of $149 until September 30.

This session explores research on what businesses identify = as=20 critical leadership competencies. It also provides real-world = examples and=20 processes that participants can apply in a novice-to-mastery = context.=20
"Leadership, Ethics and Military Service"=20
- Porter Halyburton, Prisoner of War = in=20 Vietnam, Professional Speaker at Halyburton Speaking=20
  Session Description: This highly personal presentation = explores=20 the relationships among values, ethics, choices, responsibility and=20 leadership as they apply to difficult decision-making in today=92s = complex=20 military environment. Professor Halyburton uses personal = observations=20 from his many years as a POW in North Vietnam as well as 28 years on = the=20 faculty of the Naval War College in Newport, RI, serving under 13=20 Presidents, as the basis for his perspectives and = conclusions.
"Transrelational Leadership Communities"=20
- Speakers: Dr. Thomas L. Alsbury, NC State=20 University and Dr. Meredith Mountford, Florida Atlantic=20 University=20
  Session Description: Transrelational Leadership (TL) is=20 characterized by a unique and constructive collaboration involving = school=20 board members, superintendents and other administrative and teacher = leaders=20 into a TL community (TLC). Presenters will present research linking = the use=20 of translational leadership constructs and improved student = achievement, and=20 will demonstrate how the conception of power by school leaders = affects their=20 ability to achieve reform. Finally, practical techniques will be = shared on=20 how to effectively develop TLCs within local school = systems.

Session Description: During this session, attendees will = hear about=20 exciting research proposals and completed research from professionals = who=20 concentrate in leadership studies. Presenters are a part of = North=20 Carolina A&T State University=92s Leadership Studies Ph.D. = Program, NC State=20 University and surrounding areas. The session will highlight the = importance in=20 using contemporary leadership research to develop more effective = leadership=20 practice in community organizations, agencies and = companies.

Session Description: Bridget A. van Kralingen, general manager = for IBM=20 North America, will address the audience on the leadership concepts = behind the=20 development of smarter cities. During this session, she will discuss the = new=20 leadership qualities required to help business and society thrive and = succeed in=20 an instrumented, interconnected and intelligent world.
